Courtney Peterson is a Washington DC based executive and leadership coach who possesses more than 20 years of experience coaching leaders and leading human resources teams. Like the lotus flower, Courtney believes that all human beings have the ability to emerge into their own remarkable beauty to perform at the highest levels, to live on purpose and to achieve their goals.
Courtney has managed multi-million dollar budgets, been responsible for sensitive matters of compliance and risk management and adhered to the highest levels of confidentiality and discretion, while leading and energizing teams. The stress and pressures that emerging and senior leaders face is well within Courtney's personal experience and understanding.
Among some of the most gratifying work that Courtney has done in her career has involved shaping workplace culture, advocating for anti-racist workplaces, as well as implementing leadership development programs. In addition to her own personal & professional commitment to equitable workplaces, Courtney has also received training in cultural competency and racial literacy. Courtney has extensive experience using a variety of leadership assessments to help individuals gain greater awareness of their values, tendencies, biases and personality traits, as well as opportunities for growth.
When not working, Courtney keeps busy with active involvement on non-profit boards, volunteering at her daughters' (ages 13 & 8) schools, hiking, practicing yoga, serving at her church, curled up with a good book or podcast, and napping.
Courtney possesses a bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh, as well as a master's degree in adult education. She currently holds a full-time position as Chief People & Culture Officer and is certified at the senior level as a human resources professional. Also a certified mediator who has the ability to support the resolution of conflict in the workplace, Courtney is wholeheartedly, a champion for people.
Courtney is a graduate of Georgetown University's Executive Certificate in Leadership Coaching program through the Institute for Transformational Leadership. She feels called to continue to be a coach that effectively partners with her clients to help them get un-stuck, gain clarity on their goals and remove obstacles to fulfill their purpose for their lives.
