Even when its roots are in the dirtiest waters, the lotus produces the most beautiful flower. Being stuck in the mud is, at times, analogous to the human condition. I partner with my clients to help them find their lotus.
My name is Courtney Peterson and I am an experienced executive and leadership coach who possesses more than two decades of senior leadership experience. Like the lotus flower, I truly believe that all human beings have the ability to emerge into their own remarkable beauty. To me, this means that you are able to perform at the highest levels, achieve your goals and most importantly, live on purpose.
The stress and pressures that emerging and senior leaders face is well within my personal experience and understanding. As a sitting c-suite leader, I face these challenges on a daily basis. To remain connected across industries, I regularly share leadership insights and thought leadership about the future of work through the Forbes Human Resources Council and am also an adjunct faculty member in the master's degree program in human resources at Georgetown University.
My clients would tell you that my style is inspiring, warm, supportive, credible, inclusive and polished. I am a highly skilled, curious and engaged listener which makes me adept at helping clients connect all the dots. I am a thought partner, accountability partner and catalyst for change in the lives of my clients. Through coaching, my clients become successful at feeding their focus and starving their distractions.
Amplifying the voices of women leaders and people of color is especially important to me. In addition to my own personal & professional commitment to equitable workplaces, I have received advanced training in cultural competency, equity practices and racial literacy. I am especially committed to the fostering of empathetic and civil workplace cultures that promote equity and anti-racism. To that end, I apply a DEI lens, sensibility and steadfast commitment to all of my work.
I have decades of experience using a variety of leadership assessments [MBTI, Hogan, DiSC, Predictive Index, Conflict Dynamics Profile] to help individuals gain greater awareness of their values, tendencies, biases and personality traits, as well as opportunities for growth. Designing custom 360 feedback instruments is another area of expertise. I also bring numerous other evidence based tools into my coaching practice.
In addition to possessing both bachelor's and master's degrees, I am a graduate of Georgetown University's Executive Certificate in Leadership Coaching program through the Institute for Transformational Leadership. I am also an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) through the International Coaching Federation (ICF).
The Washington DC area is home to me and I actively (and quite joyfully) coach clients in all time zones of the U.S. and abroad! In addition to coaching and leading, I also enjoy spending time with my family, including teen and tween aged daughters, as well as riding my Peleton, reading, journaling and practicing meditation.
